Mortgage Affordability Calculator

Uses the 28/36 rule, the same guideline most mortgage lenders use, to estimate a realistic home price range based on your actual income and debts, not just what a lender says they'll approve.

How this works: your housing payment shouldn't exceed 28% of your gross monthly income (the "front-end" ratio), and your housing payment plus all other debt shouldn't exceed 36% (the "back-end" ratio). We calculate both and use whichever is more conservative.

The Mortgage Affordability Calculator is an educational estimate from Fit Finance Academy, not personalized financial or lending advice. The 28/36 rule is a common industry guideline, not a universal rule or a loan approval guarantee, actual lender requirements, rates, and loan programs vary. This is a starting point for conversation, not a guarantee, and it's not a substitute for advice from a qualified mortgage or financial professional.
